The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, in partnership with American Airlines, ASUR Airports, and Phoenix Infrastructure Group, recently celebrated the completion of a $125 million commercial redevelopment program for Terminal 8 at JFK. This transformation introduced a new great hall and over 60 new shopping, dining, and experiential options, emphasizing locally owned and diverse businesses to create economic opportunities for the community. The program features world-renowned culinary offerings from brands like Eataly and Momofuku, alongside New York favorites such as Black Tap, Alidoro, and Queens’ historic Neir’s Tavern.
As part of a $400 million investment completed in November 2022, British Airways was able to relocate from Terminal 7 to Terminal 8. With the investment made by American Airlines and British Airways, Terminal 8 – now featuring five new widebody gates – offers an improved passenger experience and expanded capacity for transatlantic travel to and from JFK. Other operational enhancements of Terminal 8 include four new widebody parking positions, and an expanded and upgraded baggage handling system, which together support additional transatlantic flights. The terminal has also been expanded with approximately 130,000 square feet of additional and refurbished space.
Building on this recent expansion, the commercial redevelopment program further enhances the customer experience with expanded concessions, affordable dining, performance spaces, and digitally enabled experiences.
